The Petal Pusher
An ode to New York's Penn Station and one of its longest-running businesses, “The Petal Pusher” is a reflection on the economics of love (and desperation), and it's a testament to a bygone era — before recent construction transformed the station into a kind of mall filled with chain stores. At its heart, this is a story about love, loss, and family.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT

Based on a real story, The Promise is about what happens when you keep a promise you made to a younger version of yourself. Ten years later, two people sit across a screen and measure the distance between who they were and who they became. The choices they made, the ones they didn’t.

Shot on 16mm through a real FaceTime call, with Stéphanie Suganami (Opus, Group Chat) in Los Angeles and Pablo Pauly (The French Dispatch) in Paris, the distance between them was never staged. Two people, two time zones, actually looking at each other. That felt like the only honest way to tell this story. For me, in Paris, and for her, somewhere in LA.
