This film was created for PERFORMAnCE, POLITICS & PROTEST, The ART of GILERT BAKER an exhibit at the GLBT Museum in San Francisco, California.

Director Biography - Jena N. Serbu, Mark A. Dahl

In the last half decade Jena has written and directed a feature film starring Joey King, Trevante Rhodes and Yvette Nicole Brown. She has production designed television shows for the Discovery Channel, TLC and the Oxygen Network; feature films for Sung Kang, Justin Chon, Brian Presley and Theo Davies; music videos for Shawn Mendes, Fetty Wap, Tyga, Logan Paul and Mickey Singh to name a few.

Prior to this she had earned a BS in Economics from Temple University and while working as a reinsurance broker in Philadelphia started the non-profit theater company, Uncut Productions and the for-profit film company, Sweetbreadstudios. During her tenure at these entities she had written, produced, directed and created a veritable menagerie of strange works which laid the foundation for her current career.

Jena is a workaholic who is kept afloat and properly playful by the amazing people who have found their way into her world, and her into theirs.


Director Statement

Mark is a writer, director, actor and production designer whose work spans theater, film, television, and live events. For the past 15 years he has written and directed the Miss’d America Pageant, one of Atlantic City’s most celebrated traditions.

As a production designer and art director, Mark has worked in television ( Amish Haunting, Over My Dead Body with Linda Hamilton, and Joel Schumacher’s Do Not Disturb), Broadway national tours, independent films, and high-profile events including Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s Oscar Party at the Chateau Marmont. His career has taken him to 43 states and 11 countries, building immersive worlds across stages and screens.

Mark began staging plays as a child, making films with a silent Super 8 camera and has never stopped. Along the way, he has also contributed to institutions such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the 92nd Street Y, The Wilma Theater, and The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. Whether on stage, screen, or in a nightclub, his goal remains the same: to give audiences a moment of joy and escape.
