4DWN tells the unconventional and deeply personal story of a South Dallas skatepark whose mission is to change the lives of everyone who walks through the gate. The 4DWN skatepark is a resilience hub rooted in skate culture, tackling the challenges of food insecurity and social justice in one of the city’s poorest communities.4DWN is at once punk, irreverent, and authentic. But it’s also organic, nurturing, and profound. The magic of this skatepark-turned-urban farm is brought to life through a beautiful, intimate mixed-media approach that pays homage to the canon of skate films that came before it. 4DWN chronicles the past and present lives of the Park’s founders and one budding young skateboarder who finds kinship, camaraderie, and a reason to keep pushing.

From slicing through rapids in a whitewater kayak to carving into a plate while printmaking, Alexandra “Chachi” Riesco draws lines between geologic forces and her work and play — but following her own line isn’t always easy. As Chachi navigates challenges, her art highlights the importance of our connections to nature.

Through interviews with individuals connected to the mountain, the film tells a story of transformation, showcasing the mountain's beauty before the eruption, the devastation that followed, and the ongoing regeneration. With stunning visuals and personal narratives, it invites viewers to reflect on their relationship with Mt. St. Helens and the power of nature's forces.

SYRCL’s Wild & Scenic Film Festival education team curates age-appropriate, engaging and inspiring content for TK-2, 3rd-5th, 6th-8th and 9th-12th grade film screenings. Essentially, each student audience gets their very own film festival! An important part of our school programs, the Wild & Scenic education team creates film-specific, standards-based curriculum for participating educators from local elementary, middle, and high schools for further classroom enrichment.
