The Distance is an autobiographical personal documentary that follows the filmmaker -a dad-to-be - as he seeks answers to why he’s terrified of becoming a parent by trying to reconnect his own father. After finding out his wife is pregnant, Jeremy and his father embark on a road trip together across the country to the Field of Dreams (the baseball field in Iowa where the movie of the same title was filmed). Along the way, Jeremy seeks to reconnect with his dad by bringing up tough subjects from the past to better identify what family means to him and why the thought of starting one seems so scary. At the same time, he and his wife prepare for the birth of their first child. The film explores fatherhood, healing old wounds, and what family connection looks like.
