MIKE ROMA is a filmmaker based in Los Angeles, where he earned a BA in Film and Television Production from USC's School of Cinematic Arts. Born and raised in suburban New Jersey, Roma's greatest passion is promoting social change through the power of narrative storytelling. He currently works as an editor for the media company ATTN: where his videos have garnered over 30 million views.
In the spring of 2016, his web series "Danny the Manny" about a gay babysitter who discovers the little boy he's watching likes to cross-dress went viral with over 500,000 views. In addition to coverage on Huffington Post, The Advocate, and Logo TV, the series had its festival debut at Los Angeles Film Festival. Calling it "nearly perfect", Indiewire Magazine named Manny one of the best web series of 2016 alongside Jerry Seinfeld's "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" and Demetri Martin's "Our Fascinating Planet".
Roma recently premiered his debut feature film DATING MY MOTHER at Frameline41, the biggest LGBT festival in the world. Starring Kathryn Erbe, Kathy Najimy, James Le Gros, and Paul Iacono, the movie follows the tumultuous relationship between a single mother and her gay son as they navigate the world of online dating. It is currently traveling the festival circuit.
