The Rebel (2023)

Please tell us your motivation for making your film:

Homosexuality is a sensitive topic in China, the story was inspired by a true event in which a gay student committed suicide after being bullied and mocked by both classmates and teachers for being too "sissy". I'm a somewhat optimistic person, I wanted to shift the character and show different version of the event.

What are the themes and central messages you wanted to convey with your submission?:

Protecting queerness can be a motivation for evoking people's inner rebellion; queerness is the source of power.
