Director Biography - Julia Husain Nacario

Julia Nacario (they, she) is a Bay Area based Bisaya filmmaker invested in the cultural revival of underrepresented Filipinx communties.


Director Statement

Julia Nacario is a life long Bay Area based Cebuano-Bisaya filmmaker with a vested interest in Filipino heritage and culture across diaspora. Dedicated to gender expansive expression and community networking, they work in LGBTQIA2S+ film spaces as a Director and 1st Assistant Camera. Their short, Painted Ones (2024), had its international premiere at the 20th anniversary International Queer Women of Color Film Festival in 2024 as the opening film and sole Filipinx short.
