Description:

"S T A I N S" is a short film composed of five short videos that use dance as a language to tell the story of a family and the generational traumas that have left indelible stains in their history. This audiovisual work proposes an introspective and empathetic experience for all viewers by exploring the concepts of family and stains as narrative resources in the context of traditional Latino families.

As the videos unfold, we witness the challenges and burdens this family has carried over time. Each member of the family, from grandparents to the youngest children, carries with them the stains of previous generations. These stains are physically manifested in improvised dance, through expressive movements and symbolic gestures.

Throughout the short film, viewers witness how these stains affect family dynamics and the relationships between its members. The wounds of the past intertwine with the present, creating a complex and often painful emotional tapestry. However, as the narrative progresses, it also shows the capacity for healing and growth that dance provides for each character.

That is why all the videos are made from improvisation, where the dancers produced and interpreted the story from their personal experiences and the elements they share in common in their life stories.

"S T A I N S" invites the audience on a journey of self-exploration and empathy, as the spots represent the struggles and challenges we all face in our families and communities. Through dance as a universal language, this short film offers an opportunity to understand and appreciate the experiences of traditional Latino families, encouraging dialogue and reflection on family relationships and overcoming past traumas.
