While drought ravages the Prairies, all that’s on Jayden's mind is getting a new dirt bike. Gripped with adolescent desire and unable to convince his cash-strapped parents to help him out, Jayden is forced to confront an ominous Creature that inhabits his father's workshop on their family farmyard. The Creature promises the boy his bike - so long as he holds on to a token of their transaction. The next day, the bike is there and Jayden goes for his inaugural ride. With the bike's added power, he attempts to cross the only puddle left on the dry farm - a decision that ends in disaster. Walking his waterlogged bike home, Jayden is forced to enter the shop one more time and find out the cost of the deal he made with the Creature.

After discovering that her neighbours are killing sheep, Rose's mother explains that the animals are being sacrificed in a traditional ritual called Eid-e-Ghorban.
