But just as, when our hunger has been sated with one food, we still long to taste the other, while thankful for the first, we crave the latter, Ma sì com’ elli avvien, s’un cibo sazia e d’un altro rimane ancor la gola, che quel si chere e di quel si ringrazia - Dante Alighieri, The Divine Comedy. PÊCHE is a short film about the last fishermen on the Belgian coast, who catch crabs in the sea with the help of horses. Inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy, the film encourages viewers to rethink their relationship with nature. As well as capturing a dying way of life, PÊCHE offers a poetic exploration of the timeless significance of ancient practices, with the catch itself providing food for thought.
