High in the remote highlands of Bhutan, 12-year-old pianist and narrator Hillary O'Sullivan traveled with a piano and a message. 'The Girl and Her Piano' is a poetic and urgent short documentary that follows her remarkable journey to 4,000 metres above sea level, where music becomes both witness and voice for a planet in crisis. Hillary's path to the Himalayas began a world away in Antarctica. Surrounded by melting ice and rising seas, she gave a piano performance which stirred something profound in her - a desire to continue speaking through music for places that cannot speak for themselves. Directed by Elaine Lim in her filmmaking debut, and captured with striking visual intimacy, The Girl and Her Piano tells the story of a young artist using her gift to confront the greatest challenge of our time. As Hillary's notes ring out across the sacred silence of Bhutan's mountains, her narration reflects the clarity and conviction of a generation that refuses to wait.
