Explore the life of the man who helped define how America eats. Long before farm-to-table became a trend, the renowned chef championed local ingredients, bold flavors and the Pacific Northwest’s fresh bounty. Dubbed the “Dean of American Cookery” by The New York Times, he reshaped the nation’s palate.

Through conversations with influential voices in food, this documentary reveals Beard’s lasting impact, including introducing Julia Child to New York. Told in menu-inspired chapters, the film looks at Beard’s deep bond with his mother, his love of markets, his courage to live openly as a gay man, and his enduring devotion to flavor, friendship and community.
