On a war-torn evening in 1999, young Vendan silently witnesses his family unravel. As curfew approaches, tensions erupt at his paternal grandmother’s home. His mother, weary of an abusive marriage, demands justice for her husband's decision to marry another woman while still having a wife and two children. In response, His father lashes out with violence. Under the cover of night, she flees—leaving Vendan and his infant sister behind.

Vendan is consumed by fear, worried about what might happen to his mother in the middle of the night. The next morning, accompanied by his uncle Raasu, he journeys through a conflict-ridden landscape in search of her. Along the way, he scans every face at army checkpoints, follows trails of broken glass, torn dresses, and abandoned slippers, fearing the worst with each burning tire and drunken stranger they encounter.

His search ends at his maternal grandmother’s home—quiet, empty, and without a trace of his mother's arrival. With anxiety mounting, Vendan holds his sister and calls out into the silence, unsure if he will ever see his mother again.
