When a young Zimbabwean boy living in a South African township is caught in the terrifying upheaval of a xenophobic mob attack, an ordinary day turns into a fight for survival. As fear and violence spread through his community, he must find a way to escape a threat that is closing in around him.

Set against the backdrop of South Africa's complex relationship with migration and xenophobia, Amazeze (Fleas) is a tense and deeply human story about innocence, belonging and survival. Through the eyes of a child, the film confronts the devastating consequences of prejudice while revealing the resilience of those caught in its path.

Taut, visceral and compassionate, Amazeze asks what it means to call somewhere home when that belonging can be violently taken away.
