"What if, among the great civilizations that have emerged since prehistoric times, there was one that has been forgotten? A civilization hidden from view and swallowed up in the best hiding place on Earth: the world's largest forest, the Amazon?
A group of scientists are on a mission to rescue this civilization from oblivion. They are digging, excavating, collecting, and comparing the remains of those humans, plants and animals that shared and populated this vast territory. They delve deep into the rainforest of Colombia and Brazil in search of incredible rock paintings left on sandstone walls. And they discover that the Amazon rainforest was shaped and gardened over millennia by its first native settlers.
Drawing on archaeological finds unearthed in Chile, we reconstruct scenes from the lives of these first settlers, the animals they encountered and the landscapes they crossed all the way from Siberia. Eventually, we discover a complex civilization with large towns and roads which thrived until the arrival of the first Europeans. A civilization long overlooked, which exploited the Amazon's resources without destroying the forest, more than 12,000 years ago."
