Spanning decades, Beautiful Evening, Beautiful Day follows lovers Lovro (Dado Ćosić) and Nenad (Đorđe Galić) and their lifelong friends Stevan (Slaven Došlo, Celts) and Ivan (Elmir Krivalić). Once gay partisans who fought against fascism, the four become renowned filmmakers navigating life in postwar Communist Yugoslavia. As their fame grows, they are forced to create propaganda for the regime while risking everything to protect their identities and one another.

In 1957, their sexual orientation draws the suspicion of the Communist Party, and loyalist Emir (Emir Hadžihafizbegović, Quo Vadis, Aida?) is assigned to sabotage their careers and lives. But Emir is hiding secrets of his own, and his loyalties begin to falter as the artists’ pursuit of freedom becomes a fight for survival.
