We can’t get enough great stories from Atlanta filmmakers, and this year’s selection is no exception. A confession of love at a poetry reading; Individuals in the LGBTQ community use artistic expression and the power of words to share their own stories and experiences through written poetry.Luce is a Black loner from the city whose hard past makes them distrust the future. Reina is a White firecracker from Appalachia who has never heard a ‘no’ she couldn’t sway. They both OD; when August finds shelter in an abandoned ranch home, he starts to go down memory lane of what his scientist mother did to him; a withdrawn teenager searches for inner peace at a desert meditation center, only to be paired with a picture-perfect roommate; Binta, a secretly queer African-Muslim teen, sells candy with her crush Aminata in Atlanta at the pursuit of buying Aminata her dream bike.

Luce is a Black loner from the city whose hard past makes them distrust the future. Reina is a White firecracker from Appalachia who has never heard a ‘no’ she couldn’t sway. While Luce shoots up in an abandoned warehouse, Reina pops pills at home. Both OD.

Luce and Reina’s paths intersect for one day in rehab – Reina’s first and Luce’s last. While Reina sneaks pills in, Luce tries to shut her ex out. As Reina tries to suss out the lay of the land, she finds on Luce by the lake. Luce warns Reina about routine drug tests while Reina warns Luce about chasing the wrong girl.

That night, Reina faces the battle to get clean. The next morning, leaving rehab, Luce faces a new one: the battle to stay clean.
